Zoning Violations Building Permits Political Sign Violations

Evidently no one is in charge at Peru City Hall.  These are pictures I have taken over the past 6 months. I notified our zoning inspector October 1 and reminded him one other time that nothing was being done to remove this shanty from the back of this apartment. Would the landlord care?  I doubt it and evidently the city does not either. Do we allow construction without zoning and permit ordinances. Evidently they are enforced on a who you are system.

Lois, someone in the 93rd comment under Waldorfs campaign card has brought up "you bet your sweet bippy".
I believe and would endorse a "sweet bippy" award to your choice of the weak. I nominate the 3rd ward alderman for this weeks winner. Do you and anyone else agree?
Although my nomination for the weak is highly limited the "Sweet Bippy" award has unlimited potential and to many present candidates.

I don't see a problem with it. it's just a shed.

It is not a bldg and at best a lean to. Even fences have to have permits and you are telling me that this shanty which is not attached needs none?

I'm ok with this chicken coop looking thing as long as it can't be seen from the street. It doesn't look like is poses a danger to anyone.

Roof is not secured and has blown off once already. City said he would be issued a citation and fined and ta da nothing happened.

Yesterday they were grilling inside the wood structure, does that make a difference? Smoke was seen coming from the cooking.

The point is some codes are enforced and some are not. Why?

Would you like to see this from your kitchen window?

It would not really bother me. Now, if it was in my own shed, I'd probably be bothered by it and probably kick it down and burn the wood. But, it does not appear to be a safety problem - so leave it alone. This is no different then parking a crappy looking car on the street in front of a house.

We live in lawless in Peru...the rules only apply to the select few that are not the incrowd...

What about Tree Houses. Do we need regulation of tree houses. There is nothing wrong with this shed. Its ugly, but ugly is not illegal.

Before we start looking at something like this I think we should be concentrating on the dilapidated buildings in our downtown district. The old Kunkels drug store on the corner of 4th and Peoria has chunks of bricks falling out. Many of the other buildings on the south side of 4th street actually pose a public safety hazard.
So - instead of complaining about a shed that if it completely fell down would not hurt anyone lets concentrate on the real problems.

There is really no difference between this shed and having a big stack of lumber in your back yard. Nothing wrong here. Let it be.

Really? Prove it. Who is the "in crowd"? What is this high school? Please. Quit your whining. There are little shacks like this all over the Illinois Valley. Apparently if you have one you are now part of the "in crowd". Lol!
