Another closed session CAW meeting scheduled for Monday. Don't bother coming to that. It starts at 7:00. Does anybody think the regular meeting will start on time?

Ha! Come spring they will be wanting to buy all new stuff.

If this equipment is not good enough for the city to use why would they sell it to a citizen. If it is good enough to repair why don't they repair it. With no BB clubs to build this year there should be plenty of time for the manpower to make repairs. Does the city still have at least two mechanics to supervise ans guide repairs.
If reckless spending would be stopped the city would have more than enough money to pay off debts and make intelligent business purchases.
As a example, oh hell there are too many examples to list and everybody knows them anyhow. It is sad to fill a room full of Peru politicians and observe what little business knowledge is present.

I see D&M is set to get the grass cutting job for the next three years. Isn't that amount over $20,000 and doesn't that need to go out for bids?

Yes this amount is over $20K and should go out for bids. Most who observe Peru politics have learned that the majority of representation would rather look for a way to skirt around the same city ordinance which they themselves have created or a council before them established than follow it, especially when a perferred vendor is involved.
Have no doubt that if a multi million dollar contract does not have to be bid a contract under a $100K will not go out for bids.
The super majority ruling will be misused, the taxpayer will be abused and the Mayor and new City Manager will be laughing for the rest of the holidays. I am sure that they are within their legal right to use the super majority as a emergency must do, immediately before winter to enter a contract to cut grass which will not grow until next May, the following May and the following May after that. certainly cements a already good friendship.

Just read the council meeting information on city web site for Mondays meeting. If the alderman don't vote 8-0 to approve the grass cutting with DM the no voters should be voted out of office. Read the report about the grass cutting and it look like the city is saving tons of money with dm. It look like quarter of millions saved in 4 years. Outstanding!!!! I guess it makes sense why they are selling extra mowers. Good management Peru.

If privatizing the grass cutting worked out so well, why don't they privatize all city services. We will see how much the city saved by outsourcing the grass cutting at Monday's meeting. If money can be saved by privatizing, we should privatize every service.

3:51 - Right On! We need more of that.

@351 same amount of.summer help employees every year

Haven't you noticed all the brand new trucks the city already bought ? They spend spend spend our money like its free ! And this grass cutting needs to be bid out cuz its over $20,000. Bidding it out now will guarantee a cheaper price ! Everyone can see what they paid in 2014 , so theyre going to go lower so they get the contract. Pull your head out of the sand Peru ! That's the upside of bidding out to get a cheaper price . its not right to give it to your buddy !

Lois , I don't know what your afraid of with my blogs unless you are writing some of these without your name, but I have brought out questions about this contract with this company against the administrators figures because of the number of summer help, to which you won't post , so are you afraid of are city administrator or what, you don't seem to want to post anything that would be a detriment against him, what's up?

I am posting almost all that comes in and checked my spam folder and nothing but spam. Try using another browser, sounds like you have an issue. I don't like what is taking place with the No Bid contracts but the administration is what it is.

10:06 - you've got to be kidding? You obviously don't know Lois. She is afraid of nobody at city hall and takes them all on. More than likely, the people at city hall are afraid of her!

Lois if that's the case I apologize, I hope my future posts go through.

Anon 8:01, I believe you when you say Lois isn't afraid of anyone in the city hall, but I also feel nobody in the city hall fears her, they don't pay much attention to the blog as you can see by the way the do business in the city

Those in city hall don't pay attention to most things that they should.
The past number of years have proven that ignorance is not a path to success and sadly the city which has over $5 million in retail sales taxes coming to it plus the enormous electrical department earnings is showing limited improvement and very little savings.
The return on the strong foundation which was built in Peru should be much greater than it presently is.
