Decision Time Coming in Peru

I was told today, that petitions can now be circulated for the aldermens seats, one in each ward. Those up for re election will be Potthoff, Waldorf, Perez and Mueller.

Also need someone to step up and handle the petition for the possiblilty of hiring a City Manger.  The red alert is now on for the city of Peru from what I am seeing and hearing and know about the happenings in City Hall.

Many of us are more than willing to go out with the petitions but everything needs a leader and city hall is certainly showing us what happens when there is no responsible leadership.

Lois: I believe the first time petitions can be picked up is September 23rd.

Lois, you have been talking a out a City Manager for a long time, now it's time you step up to the plate.

Yes I have and it is certainly time for the rest of this city and younger people to take this task upon themselves if they are interested in making this a better place. The circle of power is drawing together with fewer and fewer caring leaders in place.

As a younger person, I can firmly say that we don't care. In this area, the younger generation don't have a chance when it comes to making a change politically thanks to all the older people who are easily brainwashed and set in their ways. It's easier to just sit back and watch everyone else implode.

If you and your generation don't care and will just sit back waiting for the implosion, you are simply putting off what will need to be done. Only waiting will only leave you with less to improve and it will require a greater effort on your part. Am I surprised at your attitude? Absolutely not, as your regrets will only come later in life when you realize what should have been done long ago. If you are not planning to stay, I can understand your attitude but otherwise you continue on you may not even have a country to save let alone a city.

Peru voters won't go for it. The powers that be will make a big deal about the salary of the City Manager. The voters will fail to understand that this salary is a pittance when compared to the willful waste from our city government.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of Peru voters are not sophisticated enough to understand what is really happening. They live in a Pollyanna delusion. They don't realize that their "friends" have been ripping them off for years. They don't realize how much money is siphoned off to preserve and add to the wealth of local families that have been sucking on the breast of government since John Hayes staked out his farm down by the river.

Mayor Harl brought up years ago that he would like to have a City Manager so he is all for this. Hence the reason their is and Administrative Services Manager, if a City Manager is agreed upon this person will go right into this position. Do you really think that is good for the city of Peru?

No one would want that situation but the referendum would require at least a Bachelors Degree in city management and being a Public Service Administrator is not what the city needs. That would be a joke.

10:45. The City Manager that Boss Harl wants is simply an employee. The way he wants to do it is retain the current form of government and hire a manger to run things for him. This is not how it should be done because the manger would have no statutory powers and would be subservient to the Mayor.
The correct way to do it is change the form of government to the Council-Manager form. This way, the Mayor and Council can not be involved in day to day operations. This takes a petition and a ballot initiative to institute.
Everyone should read the Illinois Municipal Code so you are clear on what the different forms of government are available to us.

ITS TOO BAD THAT NO ONE IS GOING AGAINST FERRARI. HE DOES NOTHING, HES THERE JUST FOR THE PAY, MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHO HE IS, BECAUSE THEY NEVER HAVE SEEN HIM. BOY TO GET PAUL PESCETTO BACK WOULD BE WONDERFUL. I CAN DREAM CAN'T I?

Ferrari is not up for election. Alderwoman Mertel received the two year term.

Sorry I meant Mueller

Lois, a bachelor degree should be a requirement I. Every position with the city. Harl doesn't care what qualifications a person has, he just appoints his friends and those who are yes men with a huge salary and benefits. I have always had respect for Alderman Pothoff, but in the last couple years my opinion of him is changing. It's so simple to ask easy questions about a person seeking a position and check their resume and qualifications out and ask for any and all types of certifications that a person should have in order to perform their job in an honest manner, and not actually have others doing it for them. Anybody can read a book and pretend they know what's up. Sad but true.
