To Peru City Flower Waterers A How To Do from You Tube

Peru workers found it difficult to do their job so they implemented a tactic often used by unions. It is called the "slow down." They did not like the job, so they did it poorly. I would imagine if volunteers tried to water the plants, the rat would show up.

Illinois Right-to-Work 2015! Send the Socialists packing!

petunia's need more then just watering

Anonymous said...

Not wave petunias. They don't need to be dead headed. They only need fertilizer occasionally and water.

I think Connecting Point should be fired. Still no video of the last city council meeting on the city website. Enough is enough!

The answer is quite simple. We should hang brightly colored Cow Bells from the lamp posts downtown. It would make us the cow bell capitol of the Midwest. Besides, Peru can always use more cow bell.

Connecting Point is doing as instructed. You do not get fired when you protect your Boss.

During the discussion on flowering baskets, Mayor Harl suggested using seasonal banners instead. I think I have previously given my feeling on that on the blog.
Do you like the idea? All in the idea of being open minded I ask.

I'm with ACBA - Cow Bells would definitely make our downtown "unique".
Go Cow Bell!

What a summer plan that is, "banners." Wonder what the banners would say? Possibly Mayor Harl? A hometown atmosphere is to have hanging baskets. Oh, that's right, forgot, I'm in Chicago. Unbelievable!

True story..... While frequenting a local watering hole this evening for a quick one after work before going home to be productive after a very productive day i hear these two local yokels bragging about how they made $30+ per hour all day for approx 2 hr work sitting on their rear in A/C cabs. One can only deduce since they were not saving lives and laughing about the ordeal that they represent the moral decay of USA (aka = unions) which has lead to the useless state we live in being OVERDRAWN n sinking faster by the day. This is our Bless America? So no matter how much we believe our plants should be watered (and i do so calm down) it seems you are picking the wrong fite? When people can retire on an unearned BS pension at 55 n run cities the system is broken .

This watering plant ordeal should not be an issue at all. There are so many retired people in the city whereas if there was sign up sheet for watering plants, there would be volunteers! Every other day for watering on a need be basis. Get rid of most of the people at city hall and start from scratch. How about people who have community service hours they have to perform?

Anonymous said...

7:25 a.m. That is a great idea, but Boss Harl won't like it because it takes a paying job away from one of the union city employees.

Anonymous said...

I don't like the idea of retired people climbing the lamp posts to water flowers.

However - I do like the idea of the community service people (DUI offenders, etc.) doing this work.

Come to think of it, why can't we use work crews from the county jail to pick up litter in the ditches and cut grass? Make these people work for their three squares and a rack.

Why do I have visions of Mayberry, North Carolina when I read some of the comments from people that have this 1950's mind-set. I'm also reminded of the two old crumudgeons in the box on the Muppet Show. Do you people actually talk that this in real life?

Lois said...

Funny that you should mention Mayberry because I just pulled that city out of my head a few days ago. You know a place where one person would be the Mayor and the Sheriff and own the only General Store in town. They knew that Mayberry would always be the same size and the same town and one person could control and rule over the town. And if you were a friend, all would be well for you.
No questions need to be asked because there were no answers.
Thanks for the cue,

Peru is more like Green Acres with the multi-hatted civil servants that are actually in business for themselves.

Unions hate volunteers. They tried to shut down the Springfield Illinois park district several years ago over volunteers.

Just read the NT story about Jon Chamlin getting booted out of the presentation last night. That is absolutely hilarious. Good for the MedFarm folks for sending Chamlin packing. This group of locals that is trying to use their political connections in Peru have no clue and no plan to operate a MM growing facility and Chamlin was obviously there as a spy trying to steal basic industry information from a legitimate professional operation because he and his investors have none. They think they have the Peru City council in their pocket, and maybe they do. Even if the phony local investors aka Nassau Ventures are successful in weaseling their way into becoming Peru's choice, the State agencies issuing the permits will eliminate Chamlin, Dahl, Janko, and company immediately simply because they are not a legitimate company with experience or knowledge of the industry. Therefore, in the MM industry Nassau and its investors are simply "Quacks" with a few two-bit local politicians on the take. Even in Illinois that won't take you far.

Lois do you know why the last council meeting video is still not on the city website?

Anonymous said...

There are devices that extend to attach to a hose that reach rather high, so, no need to climb poles.

Anonymous said...

1:17 How can you kick somebody out of a public meeting? Political issues aside, he had a right to attend the meeting. I think a law was broken.

Anonymous said...

Just read the article. The NT is saying it was not a "... government regulated public forum."

I just saw on Facebook Lou's LaGrotto posted the lineup of bands for the Uproar concert and the Suicide Girls are still part of the lineup. Are the strippers going to be at this concert or not??

Anonymous said...

To 9:24, Lord I hope so. That would be a great indicator to the community of the lack of quality leadership in Peru. Maybe the Peru electorate would finally get a clue and vote these people out of office asap.

The federal, state and city taxpayers spend millions and millions on a airport which the city government turns into a concert arena which the city population can't wait until the concert is over and gone?
Is anything wrong with this picture?
Possibly it is time for certain city representation to realize that this concert is not how the citizens wish for their city to be represented as?

Anonymous said...

8:24 Speak for yourself. There are many that look forward to the entertainment the concert venue offers.

Anonymous said...

One would think with all the controversy over the Suicide Girls, that LaGrotto would be very careful about what they put on Facebook. Will the Suicide Girls be at this concert or did Lou's not proofread before they posted the lineup?

9:24 PM

You were not seeing current information, the Suicide Girls will not be there. Perhaps you need to clean the cache on your computer to get the most recent comments on her site.

Your will not be seeing the video because it is "screwed" up once again. In order to not offend Connecting Point, they always use the excuse that this happens in Princeton. Peru get with it and show us you are able to record and present a simple recording video. It makes me believe no one is competently in charge of this city that they repeatedly tolerate such rotten service from a company we are paying to perform a service for us. Enough excuses as to why really important videos are messed us, we get it.

Anonymous said...

It does happen, video gets corrupted. But what is interesting and almost absurd is the content of the meetings WHEN this occurs. Simply listing in order every problem meeting / loss of video would be a campaign talking point in most cities. Except around here people seem to giggle and say, thats just how its done here.

Anonymous said...

a 13 year old with an iPAD can do a better job with the videos.

Anonymous said...

I just checked Lou's FB page. They put the post out last night and then edited it, so I'm sure they had it wrong last night and had the Suicide Girls listed and then corrected it by editing them out.

When a service fails to perform the provisions of a contract continuously they are normally replaced.
Since the owner of the corporate service was personally pictured at this meeting from his good side I question why he has not personally made a quality check to make sure all was working properly. Why has no one made a quality check to assure that the meeting is being recorded? I want to see the meeting of 7/29/14 and do not accept continuous excuses of technical failures for the reason
I cannot. Timing of failed meetings video will be a campaign subject. It is not fair to only show videos of the nights when certain players win and only offer band aids when they lose.

Anonymous said...

the committee meetings need to be recorded also, since the council meetings are turning into a rubber stamp exercise.

Anonymous said...

I bet the city could hire a retired person at minimal cost to record meetings, and there would be no problems with them being posted. Then again, who would be appointed or hired to do it? A friend of Harls? Then we would continue to have problems with equipment malfunctions. This city is a joke. I personally know two people that were big Harl supporters, and are no longer Harl supporters. Next election, they are supporting another candidate to be disclosed later. Also this other candidate for Mayor is doing their due diligence for a campaign in 2017 which will blow people's minds. I bet Harl won't even be on the ballot, change will come.

I believe most of the problem is that the City does not want these videos hosted on YouTube. They want them on a server that they have complete control over. If they do like everyone else and use YouTube - they loose that control and "embarrassing things" may be on the Internet forever - to be dredged up at the least opportune time - like during a campaign for State Senator or maybe the US Congress.
