A Vote for Mike Hart .....Working Together for a Better Peru

After watching this question and answer of the Mayor candidates, I am absolutely certain that Mike Hart will be the best choice to steer Peru through the coming years. We need to regain a sense of community which has not been nurtured during the last 4 years. We want to feel a sense of pride in those we have elected to this office and in return we want to feel that we will be treated with respect and honesty.
There are no degrees awarded for How to Become a mayor but I feel that Mike has the attitude, life skills and willingness to work for the best for all residents of Peru.
Mike wants the best for you and will work with you and for you.

I agree Lois. He has been coming to council meetings and committee meetings for a long time. He knows what's going on in the City of Peru. I believe he will run the City with a firm hand, but also will welcome citizen input and volunteer efforts. He will closely watch the spending and implement a better checks and balance system than what is currently in place.

Michael Hart for Mayor!

Why is Mike Hart so mean?

Mike is the furthest thing from mean that I could think of. He is a no nonsense person and sees a great deal in Peru that is not right. A great deal of unnecessary expenditures and poor management frustrate many of us and that is what you hear from Mike. He is very intelligent and knows that corrections can be made in how this city functions. If you are saying that trying to convince people, it will not work. Now talking about mean yesterday, did you see how angry Scott Harl was, you can tell when his face becomes beet red. Mayor Harl was not only arrogant but his meanness was there for all to see.

Anonymous said...

A face getting beet red as I learned growing up is a sign of deceitfulness! My parents and grandparents taught me that! I was also told not to trust someone when a question is asked of them and a color change happenson their face.

Lets not forget about the votes for LP School Board. Please DO NOT vote for Dennis O'Keefe. That is unless you support bullying and brick throwing. Thanks

9:26. Have you ever had to speak in public. When one is nervous, one's face turns red. Mike is the nicest guy!

Mike Hart for mayor!

It seems that the current mayor believes he his not at fault for anything that happens during his watch, that it is always something or somebody elses fault. Just as he feels the county and the Dimmick school district are at fault for pursuing what they feel is rightfully there's with regards to the northend TIF.

Harl tells all he did but forgets that he did NOT do campaign promises.

@8:14 a.m.- DID YOU HAVE A BAD NIGHTS SLEEP LAST NIGHT? You wanna talk about someone being
mean, you may want to add arrogant, disrespectful, etc.. And then look at those in our present administration as to how they have on a regular basis have treated the public and taxpayers. @8:15- It's very possible that you haven't been to council meetings, maybe you accidentally were referring to the wrong person. Please get a good night sleep tonight so you don't make a mistake tomorrow when you vote, that is if you do vote. Thank You. HART FOR MAYOR!

I did not know of Mike Hart prior to this election, nor did I know Giordano. I took the time to do my homework and speak with them both, as well as associates of both of their. With my conversations with Mike Hart and hearing others speak of him, here is what I have learned. Mike Hart is the best candidate. He is sincere about his efforts and wants what's best for Peru and its citizens. He is a no bs type of guy and expects nothing but the best effort from people. If he doesn't have an answer, he will find an answer. Should he be elected, or anyone in that matter, there will be more of a demand for their time and one can't expect to be replied to immediately. However, I feel from my conversations with Mike I feel he will put his best effort and sacrifice something of his own to make contact with a citizen that may be concerned or has a general question. During a conversation with Mike I had a "dumb question" and I stated such in my conversation... Mike's reply was welcoming, "There is no such thing as a dumb question." My conversations with Giordano felt a bit different. I came away questioning his sincerity for the citizens and Peru itself. It felt as though it was a scripted speech that was given to me. The flow of the conversation was not there. I was interrupted numerous of times. I have taken the time to inquire about his past and there are some questionable things. Look no one is perfect, but I expect someone a bit more sincere and with a solid past. My vote is for Hart.

You ask why is Mike Hart so mean?

Probably for the same reason Ms. Noonan is so charitable, Mayor Harl is so honest. Mr Hylla is so open, Connecting Point is so tech savvy, the adventure intersection is so efficient, Pickleball is so quiet, the airport is so well run, the old Power Plant and Westclox are so green and clean, and the finances are in such great shape.

I have never seen a picture of Harl where his face wasn't red? Does that mean he is perpetually dishonest? You may be on to something.
Now if we could just figure out what color is under Giordanos mask, we would have him figured out.
And I think everyone would be happy to see a little color in the former Mayor Bakers cheeks again, even if he does have to lie.
I'll bet your Grandpa was a good man. What color were his cheeks?

LOVED THEM PALM TREES IN BACK OF A CANDIDATES PICTURE IN TONIGHTS PAPER! Hart for mayor. I already have my bottle if vin (wine) chilled! Hart for mayor!

You might have been shoveling snow when that was taken. It was a Florida vacation taken by "Team Harl" earlier this year or late last year. I dislike when they start hauling out the kids for photo ops. After the election is fine and not during a campaign, especially this close to election day. Poor taste imho.

Anonymous said...

So then Lois what do you think of Mike Hart for Mayor page on FB??? He has photos on there with kids????

Peru Town Forum said...

3:15 PM
Everybody has pictures of their families on FB. I don't need to see faces splashed all over the paper night after night. Things like that have always been a turn off for me. It might be your cup of tea, but not mine.
On FB, I love looking at family photos but I think pre election in the news is poor taste. A thank you afterward with family is fine.
Have see those Mike Hart FB pictures in the nightly paper. I don't think so. And he has very cute grandchildren also.

Anonymous said...

ITS VERY COMFORTING TO KNOW THEY PROBABLY HAD A EXCESS TO A SWIMMING POOL WHILE ON VACATION. My wife and I can't afford a vacation to starve rock let alone Florida with our grandchildren. Nor do we have access to a pool in Peru when they visit in the summer months! And we have been paying taxes(property also) in Peru for 28 years!! NOR CAN WE TAKE THEM TO 28th STREET PARK TO PLAY TENNIS ANYMORE! Why? BECAUSE IT IS A HIGH SOCIETY COURT KNOWN AS PICKELBALL COURT! AND I ABSOLUTELY AM AGAINST A BB GUN CLUB! HART FOR MAYOR. And my family drinks tap water not bottled!!! TEAM HART!! Mr. Mike Hart for Mayor! TEAM HART! Hart for mayor! Get your plastic Round pool out and get ready to celebrate! Hart for mayor!!

Anonymous said...

Picture reminded me of when Romney had a picture circulating of he, his wife and 19 grandchildren in it when he was running for president and LOST! Then a few day
later supposedly it came out that he has trust funds set up for all 19! Wow! Not for the struggling families in my opinion.

Anonymous said...

So Lois you are saying it is ok for Fb and not local papers, oh wait that's right Mr. Hart can do nothing wrong in your eyes!!!! Sounds to me like you are making exceptions to your comment . Not to tough to shoot holes in your reasoning!!!!

I stopped buying bottled water years ago and invested in a filtered pitcher for my fridge. City hall should take a few lessons from its residents.

Hasn't anyone told you that FB is a social media site and that the NT is a news organization.
How many FB comments and/or photos do you see printed in the NT? Evidently you don't have the buttons pushed for common sense today.
Reality check please!

Try checking out the Daily Mistake today they can't even proof read.

It's a nice picture. However, to each their own. I wouldn't personally involve my grandchildren in politics. That being said, every politician almost always portrays themselves as great family man. HART FOR MAYOR!

Thursday will be my last paper that I pay for. I ant to read election results. I will no longer be supporting a rip-off of a paper. Paper not worth 2 cents in my opinion. I will vote for Mike Hart for Mayor tomorrow. Thank You to all who participate on this blog, it has helped keep me informed. At first when I started participating with this blog I had my doubts, but now after speaking personally with many others outside this forum I KNOW THERE IS MANY TRUTH ON HERE. Also, I have A relation who is pretty high up in a department so to speak in the city of Peru. BE A SMART VOTER TIMORROW AND CAST YOUR VOTE FOR MIKE HART FOR MAYOR! And I will stand by my blog here!!!!

Anonymous said...

Actually Lois the NT uses a Twitter feed, the point being whether it is FB or the NT both candidates were trying to reach prospective voters. Thank you for the common sense insult, that is a compliment coming from you. I can see at this point you feel that your candidate doesn't have that tide of support needed to win so now you are just lashing out!!

Peru Town Forum said...

4:40 PM

Just for your information, I did not make the initial post. It was from your court. Evidently you don't read well, the tide definitely seems to be going in the direction I favor judging from the comments of today. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Anonymous said...

Wow! Getting hot. Trying to bang Lois! @4:40, Where have you been for the last 3 years? Evidently not participating on typing a blog on here, but I'd be willing to bet you have read them! Actually I agree 100% with a couple of the above bloggers and Lois(who I've never met) that putting a picture with grandchildren(whom all are far from being of age to vote) that it's poor taste to involve children. That would be like Mr. Hart having his grandchildren holding signs outside city hall with t-shirts on that say "Team Hart.". What would be peoples reaction to that? No different that paper picture! I will disagree with that also! My opinion. HARTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. FOR MAYOR!

Anonymous said...

I can read just fine and if you think 20 something posts is a tide of support I don't think you can be reasoned with!!! Hot head Hart for Mayor --- NOT!!!!!

Anonymous said...

5:37 20 votes could decide this mayoral race. YES!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I'm voting for Baker! I will point out that I've noticed how the News Tribune places Harls ads near front page, and place other opponents back somewhere else. I guess money talks! News Trib is a joke!

Many of my friends are not bloggers and every one of them are voting for Hart. The bullying mentality by Harl has gotten around town and people are not happy. You can only push so many people aside before they said No more!

Anonymous said...

I just want the 2nd ward voters to remember one thing when they go to the polls. And that is that alderman Radke will remain an alderman whether he wins or loses the election. And, 2 years from now he can run for alderman again. Alderman Mayszak needs your vote to remain in office and fulfill her desire to work for a better Peru. She does not have the options that alderman Radke does.

Anonymous said...

Has Giordano ran one ad in the paper? I am about convinced he is in it to divide votes. He offered very little substance with his answers in the debate, doesn't take an active role in government by staying absent at council and committee meetings, and has ran very few ads (if any). I can't figure why he would rub and put little effort into his campaign. Thoughts?

Anonymous said...

9:26
Divide votes. It's that simple. I have not heard one detailed statement out of him yet. All generalizations and no advertising. I couldn't find anything about him on the illinois state board of elections website either. rather odd.

Anonymous said...

Giordano has a nice ad in tonight's paper. I liked the ad. He used "PERU" like Harl uses "BEST". I believe that shows Harl's true colors. If he was truly out for the good of this city and not for his own ego, he would have used "PERU". Using "BEST" just shows his arrogance and his goal to promote himself and not Peru.

Even though I liked Giordano's ad, he came out of nowhere and decided he wants to be mayor. He needs to do his homework and attend council and committee meetings.

My vote is for Mike Hart.

Anonymous said...

So the sound level reading devices that the Peru Police used werent good enough for you? Oh wait, they didn't give you the results you wanted so you went and got different ones.......got it

Anonymous said...

9:28 I agree!! No true passionate effort on his side. No advertisements on radio or paper, never visited my house nor any others in my neighborhood of friends, if true he hasn't been attending meetings then I'd say he's a joke!!

Kara said...

How petty can people get, who really cares when, where, how the campaign pictures were taken. Unfortunately my parents only have the option to travel to see their children and grandchildren because we are no longer in Peru. He should be punished for this and not be Mayor, Please how petty can we get? It is not relevant at all to a political election. He has worked hard his whole life, isn't he entitled to enjoy his family during the holidays?! WOW, so, so petty I feel very sad for you. Kara Ferrari

Anonymous said...

Mayor Harl is not being punished for spending time with his family. It was peoples opinion in which involving children in a picture for a campaign slogan. Freedom of speech.

Anonymous said...

Now he has his children coming to the blog to speak for him! Not only does he hide behind Hylla in the paper, now he has hidden behind his own daughter to voice his thoughts. PATHETIC!!!

Anonymous said...

Citizens of Ward 2: Before you vote for your next alderman ask yourself why is Mr. Radke running for a position that he already maintains. Win or lose he remains an alderman. Could his decision to run against alderman Mayszak have been made for him by others who would like her ousted out of office because she fights for the rights of the citizens of Peru? Why else would Mr. Radke, who has nothing to gain by running against her, do so?

Mayszak (X)

Anonymous said...

Next time he visits you, can you keep him there for good? We don't want him!

Anonymous said...

Anybody who runs for office knows that they have put themselves out there for scrutiny for the public on all levels. A picture is not going to decide who wins this election. It was a nice picture, however, people have a right to voice their opinions.

Anonymous said...

Very nice testimonial from a daughter about her father. Most people put their father on a pedestal. I noticed last name Ferrari- is this daughter of Harls a relation to Alderman Ferrari in any way? Curious.

Anonymous said...

@Kara, I would like to know when was the last time you and your family visited Peru? Did you grow up in Peru? If yes, why do you live in another state now? Thank You. You may not want to answer, and that's fine, because you have that right to blog answers or not.

Anonymous said...

NOW I GUESS WE CAN ASSUME HARL READS BLOGS.

Kara said...

Regardless of living overseas, which I personally decided to do with my husband, being that he is Italian, I have made numerous trips back to the US and Peru... last time being 6 months ago. No I have no relation to Alderman Ferrari.
All political parties use family, that is if they value it. What President has not used family in his campaign? How many kids does Obama have, Clinton, Bush, etc... yes we can ALL answer that because family is used in political campaigns.
So what is wrong with family values and being proud of your family (rhetorical question, as I do not care for such negativity). I wish the best for the city of Peru and everyone has their own opinion of what that is.

Anonymous said...

you know what happens when you assume? You make an ass out of yourself and Lois

Anonymous said...

I don't feel that your active campaign work will pay off for Sherry, Mike, Steve. Was it the negative strategy or was it the candidate? Very little was said about your choice candidates abilities, much was said about the others implied failures. Time to be constructive or continue to be destructive?

The sound level readings , if they were taken, were never published. For the readings to be forensic, they must be made over time on a recording db meter positioned at the exact distance from the boundary of the property. There also is a matter of newly discovered medical evidence concerning the effects of certain types of concussive sound in repetitive patterns. This ain't baseball, not crown noise. All so silly if a city accepts compromise.

And when preparing a suit for damages, it helps to have your own evidence, not the evidence from a police department whose chief stated that stated it is a park, so sound ordinance is not applicable. Same guy who claimed that ambulance trips at a rock concert were due to pre existing conditions. Maybe they were. Both of them. But people who work at hospitals talk too, even tho they value their jobs and can't name names in medical cases.

Since the activity was not legally sanctioned by the city, an entirely different area of law is applicable. But my guess is you already know that.

Let the games begin, and no longer in this forum.

Anonymous said...

So it isnt a park? Also, wouldn't HIPA laws keep hospital employees from commenting.

Anonymous said...

3:47 HIPA laws would. The specific incident reports can be requested from the Police via FOIA. But why would we do that. It's the Peru Police . They are above reproach and never say anything that is not factual.

But there is nothing preventing someone from finding the individuals involved and letting them tell their story, of their own volition.

As far as it being a park, let's use the example of a Rocket launch. Or a loud party after hours. Are those ok because its a park. How about if they only happen 1.2 percent of the time? Are they ok if they are close to an influential friend of the mayor and rec board? Majority rules right? Not quite.

There may be a city ordinance that is more restrictive than the state sound pollution regs. But it cannot be less restrictive. The noise has already been measured to be over the limit very frequently as far out as the street.

Add in that fact that it is not an exempt activity, is an activity that was illegally allowed and fraudulently presented and passed by an agent of the city acting as a private club, and you have the heart of the issue.

Those are only the issues of violating statutes. Suing people for damages ventures into areas far outside of regulations, statutes and ordinances. Government bodies are notoriously difficult to sue successfully, but when they transfer their liability to non elected bodies acting like private businesses or clubs, they open themselves up.

The city is lawyering up against the industrial base because they are operating as a utility, not a government making decisions for the good of the people. They have chosen a very good firm. They will need them.

The very fact that the city gets into these legal positions shows both the arrogance and incompetence of the present mayor and many of the council.
