Looking for page #1 of salaries for supervisor and assessor

“My thoughts on this have not changed,” Hocking said. “I think salaries should be frozen.” Quoted from the 8/22/12 news tribune article, Peru Township considers pay-cut. I think Mr. Hocking, should explain why he voted for an increase? Also, the four trustees need to comment too.

i honestly dont thnk they need to comment. be real- who wouldnt vote themselves a raise.

PERU TWP. is not necessary. It can be eliminated. Get rid of it and make money!

"Who wouldn't vote themselves a raise? " Responsible citizens who recognize this is a corrupt and wasteful organization. The township is unnecessary, but can only be eliminated from within. Vote for the candidates who want that to happen.

The democrats will try to hold on to this money making operation at least we have a shot to eliminate these high paying positions and cut the positions there to part time and less pay.

Lois, we appreciate the transparency you are giving us with the township. Much like Perez did for city we are seeing more about the workings of the city every meeting. I hope the new canadiates can bring true reform to the township. The township should work like a helping hand for general assistance to the poor, and maintain the township roads that should be the headline, not a no comment from the supervisor or an over paid road commissioner. Change is in their air in Peru politics and April will be nothing short of a wild ride.

Clueless, clueless, clueless. If you don't like the way someone in office is spending money - run against them. But know what you are talking about. There are rules you have to follow you can't just say I don't like this and change it. You are only one vote. Obviously these "true reformers" have never held a supervisory position before. I still have not heard what they "promise" to do. Are you donating your salary back to the township? It has already been set so you have to take it unless you are donating it. And maybe Art needs to donate back his pension and health care benefits he gets from being on the county board for a few years. And while you are at it maybe give us back the $250,000 or so from the accounting software which was never used.

To 9:49 am,

They are running against you and yes they will bring reform to Peru Township.
Yes, they will donate salary back to the township. Yes, they know what needs to be done and yes, you are obviously feeling the pressure already.
Better try to relax. It's only just begun.

so they say the township has way too much money but they are going to donate it back? lol please

$15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 +$15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 + $15,000 +
$15,000 + $10,000 + a lot more that we will never know about!

Politicians thrive on us common folk having short term memories or they would extend their terms out to eight years instead of four.

The Twp. Board of Trustees is very similar to the Looney Toonies and Art would fit right in. Big problem is who do you vote for? Probably best to use a write in and cast a vote for Mary L. and Mr. Mitchell, Daffy Duck and Elmer Fudd and say a prayer.

To 9:49 AM:

I bet if the office ran like a small office without a full time secretary, a full time road employee and a part time road employee you would save a quick 100k at least maybe more. I wish we could get more information about payroll of these employees.

say that about any govt office

Dec 26 9:49, your comment lacks intelligence. You comment on the Independents like you each one of them. The truth is you don’t know anything about each of them. Two have graduated from College, Two have been a supervisor and a manager for several years, and one is a business owner in Peru. It’s ok to comment on what you know, but to comment on things you don’t know makes you look like a fool. The independents will make a statement when they are officially on the ballot. They will provide the voters the information they need and want. They will provide a much better way to run the township. They will campaign, like it or not. They are all qualified to do job.

9:49 Based on the current information from the AG , the township can really only be realistically dismantled from within. That could change next year as the state works on a more direct referendum process, but until then, the independents are taking the best path. It is no different than any politician who is running on the plank that once elected they will reduce government. I do not think any of us would mind paying these people the same salary as they work to reduce positions and salaries including their own.
The only people upset about this are the grossly overpaid people in the positions. If they are removed, the worst that can happen is someone else gets the money, since the township does almost nothing.
