Oglesby Ice Rink

Doesn't look anything like Peru's rink. Wonder how and who did theirs?

I love the location, right on the main street of their down town. Ever notice how many little used parking lots on either side of Route 6 the main street of Peru.
Strange thinking in Peru, we put our band concerts in the Plaza amidst all the noise and smell of highway traffic and then we put our public ice skating rink up north where no one ever goes and in my opinion only a very unsafe location hidden from the nearest road, the Plank Road.No one close to hear anything. What ever was the city thinking?

Maybe the Peru SPW, could go to Oglesby and see how they did it. Maybe they could have the man who decided how and where to put it in Oglesby, come and tell Peru how and help them. It would be nice to help neighbors. Happy New year!

Just went and checked out Oglesby's rink. Was surprised to find out it's not on a concrete slab but on a grassy area. It's quite a nice set up and the location is excellent. According to some local residents it's just an empty area that sits idle most of the time. It's huge!!

Where do they park their truck?

On the road, where it belongs.

It is hard for them to get their truck out on the rink because of all the ice, but Chamlin is bringing in some heaters so it should all be good soon enough. I heard the skaters are not allowed to turn left either, so it is all about safety over there.

Finally something Oglesby has that the greedy Peru people don't. HA HA HA
It is free for Oglesby and LaSalle people, but Peru people need to pay to use it.

Harl and Alderman A are going to donate their bench if Oglesby will let them have a winter photo shoot! -- That's provided they both still fit on it.
